I get asked a lot about attaching graphics to various surfaces. One of the items we have offered for a long time is floor graphics. When this option became available about 15 years ago, we thought this would be the next big thing in the world of large format graphics. While we print floor graphics from time to time, it has not really been a large request item like we originally thought.
Typically floor graphics are printed on some sort of pressure sensitive vinyl with pebble surface overlaminate to give it slip resistance. In the last year many manufacturers have been offering a pebble finish medium that can be direct printed thereby removing the need for an overlaminate. While you would think that would have to be cheaper, as of today the pricing works out about the same for both options.
Floor graphics are typically considered to be short term graphic applications because nearly all the material manufacturers proclaim an typical usage period of 6 months. After that, they say the graphic may hold up okay but no claims are made after that. With this background, I am excited about a new product for creating floor graphics that you can be confident will last indefinitely even in high traffic areas. The secret with this approach is a new material that is just 35 mil (.035 inches) thick with a barely perceptible wood grain surface pattern that gives the needed slip resistance.
The secret sauce ingredient with this new material is that it is clear and you simply print on the back side so when you place it on the ground, the graphic simply shows through and is never exposed to direct contact. How cool is that.
Benefits of G-Flooring:
• Easy to clean and maintain
• Slip and tear resistant
• No adhesives necessary
• Water and fluid resistant
• Recyclable
One of the biggest benefits of this product is that it’s completely repositionable. Heavy enough as to not shift with foot traffic but light enough to roll up and move at your discretion. While the free-floating concept is nothing new, the G-Floor® product is designed to protect your brand from the wear and tear of virtually any conceivable type of traffic.
