When Delta Dental Health Center decided to move from their longtime home in Laclede’s Landing to be near the St. Louis Science Center they needed a way to draw attention to their new location. Fortunately they had use of a great monument sign out front but it needed to be updated. We discussed several options for using what was already there to help tell their story and do it most efficiently.
In years past I would have suggested decals to cover up the old sign or using decals to cover new metal and then installing over the signs already there. Now armed with new tools and new ways of doing things we took a better approach. We used our new flat bed printer which uses UV vibrant inks and direct printed in best quality photo mode to large metal sheets and then digitally cut them down to size. After printing in the evening they were installed the next morning. What makes this better? Many things. Decals can fail, laminates can fail, and decals often show artifacts from everything they cover up which is never good. Direct printing to the material which was metal in this case insured a perfect surface from the start, vibrancy of color and reliability because of process. After being featured in the newspaper we received several great calls and notes which brought smiles to us all. Feel free to read the full story on the St Louis Post Dispatch here.
