Recently I had the privilege of attending the University of Missouri–St. Louis introduction day for perspective students. I have no ties to the school except sharing a curiosity of its offerings with my son. What a great experience it was. I saw first hand groups of youths seeking knowledge, parents trying to help and teachers taking pride in their work. You could feel a sense of excitement between opportunity and education. There was a poignant moment when a professor shared both the good and bad within his department. The honesty and candidness was quite moving. Some people mockingly say in bad times it sucks to be you but on this day the feeling was the exact opposite. The rooms were instead filled with diversity, dreams and pursuit of what each person could achieve.
So what does any of this have to do with SwiftGoBig and banner stands? On this day well designed and strategically placed banner stands gave direction, beaconed location and anchored departments together in a unified way. Upon entry into the auditorium you could instantly see the location of nearly each and every school department. You did not need a map, an app or a guide to find your way. They all had a common look, simple and uncluttered design. They worked together not competing for attention but instead giving it.
